Welcome to Motivational Mondays your (PEP) Proactive, Empowered, Performance talk with Mark Kent.

Has this been an empowered week for you? Have you noticed an improved ability to stay focused and establish closure with the knowledge, principles, and techniques offered in your Motivational Mondays?

Have you thought about and practiced maintaining inertia? Have you noticed how much more efficient you have become by maintaining your momentum instead of stopping and starting over again?

Yes there are times we have to shift our focus and attend to more pressing issues, however to a great extent we often self sabotage by creating and exposing ourselves to multiple tasking hence multiple distractions.

Having awareness and the ability to recognize our own innate tendencies as well as the expectations of others to shift our intentions is crucial in gaining control over our lives.

When it comes to where and when we apply our efforts, conscious choice is necessary to improve our motivation and overcome dysfunctional habits.

We all have an unconscious need to be accepted, approved, and appreciated. However, this instinct, if not put in check, can dramatically interfere with our ability to stay task focused - especially if we spend an inordinate amount of time allowing others to manipulate and capitalize upon our inherent goodwill to help others.

It is true: Takers find givers and more so givers create takers.

If you often feel overwhelmed and have difficulty maintaining consistency in your efforts towards closure, it's imperative you analyze the dynamics of your interpersonal relationships and take responsibility for why it's difficult to get anything completed on your terms.

To improve your control over a disturber, it's important to realize the universe offers you three options in every decision, especially when it comes to interpersonal demands and expectations of others.

Yes, No and Wait. If you notice your plans are often compromised by the demands and expectations of others the yes response is probably easy. This is because the desire to please is closely associated with the need for approval and fear of rejection.

Conversely you may find it difficult to say no to real or implied demands especially if you feel guilt or fear or disappointment from others. From this perspective you can see how difficult it can be to maintain motivation and effectuate outcome on your terms.

The third option the universe offers is Wait. This response is between yes and no and allows you time to overcome the knee jerk yes response of always accommodating the wishes and demands of others.

Wait gives you time to contemplate if the expectations of others is in your best interests and also gives the other person time to consider alternatives such as doing it themselves or to find some other giver to accommodate them.

From this perspective it is easy to see how 'Wait' is so important in checking the heretofore automatic yes response. This pause affords you the time to objectively look at the situation and make productive decisions to improve your ability to stay on task.

So to minimize takers and external distractions say wait, think it over and usually you will make a decision that will be in your best interest specific to maintaining motivation, inertia and closure.

Get ready for next month it will be exciting. I am devoting a whole month to the concepts behind procrastination, what causes it and how the cycle is created. so be sure to check in each Monday to learn how to crack the procrastination code, maintain motivation and empower your life.
